Different Types of Learners

Different students have different approaches towards learning. They can be categorized under various types. It is crucial for learners to identify their type in order to do better and strive to improve in aspects they are lagging at.

These are the different types of learners-

  • The ever accelerated learner- As the name suggests, this one is quite accelerated most of the times and is a heavy reader, who typically aces all kinds of standardized tests, thanks to his impeccable reading skill sets. This type of learner has the hunger to learn and be enthusiastic about it.

  • The hands-on learner- This type of learner requires hands on instructions and explanations from guides and tutors and believes in taking it slow, asking for vivid detailing on every topic, especially those which are their problem areas.

  • The sound learner- A sound learner is the one that takes school sessions, tuitions as well as everything taught elsewhere pretty seriously, and wouldn?t mind working a little extra hard for getting those good grades. From devoting extra hours to study preps, to solving an extra paper just for practice, a sound learner abides by all these rules.

  • The overachieving learner- The overachieving learner is blessed with a really strong memory, which helps him memorize topics and fetch really good scores. But they generally turn out to be a little weak when it comes to taking tests. Their mock test scores are often great but their actual grades suffer, and that?s why they need to work on brushing their test taking skills.

  • The maverick learner- The maverick learner prefers making his own study plan with some tidbits of guidance from the teachers, who can back up the learning process. Additionally, they are also seekers for a good study environment where they can manifest their urge of learning and studying on their own.

  • The unmotivated learner- It?s not that this type of learner doesn?t want to learn. Most of the times, there are ideas and thoughts flooding in their minds, but they just suffer from the lack of feeling challenged or motivated to get up and actually execute thoughts for their benefit. They find the insignificant aspect of things, rather than looking for the challenges in them to drive them to do something. So, they need to work on dropping off the negative approach towards things and seek for a purpose in every little thing in life, not just studies and examinations.
