Make sure you are familiar with topics like Kinematics, Trigonometry, Errors and Physical Measurements.
These topics would be a great starter for your JEE Preparation for Physics. Some other topics that you can look into are Newton's Laws of Motion, Work, Power and Energy, Circular Motion and Electrostatics.
Most of the first year syllabus for JEE Physics would be related to mechanics. One has to be really strong at mechanics as it is the most scoring subject for a general paper.
Heat and thermodynamics related questions are basically easy but tricky sometimes. So deal with them with care.
In the first year, the only tough/extremely fundamental topic is Rigid Body Dynamics. For this chapter, you need to be strong at circular motion.
After this comes Fluid Mechanics which is also slightly tough.
Be strong at Gravitation basics.Even though this topic is not asked much in the exams, it helps you in Second year-Electrostatics
Second year involves mostly Electromagnetism, Optics, Current Electricity, Modern physics and Electronics.
-Electronics is important only for the JEE Mains. These are easy, you have to just listen to the class, rest can be done by you. NCERT is a must for this portion.
-Current Electricity is the easiest of all the topics.
-Optics has a lot of concepts and applying them in a right way is necessary .Imagination is necessary. Drawing Ray diagrams would help you a lot.
-Electromagnetism - The Most Important Chapter for JEE. This chapter has several concepts, formulas but without the basics, you will not be able to proceed. Focus seriously on this chapter.
